Train with HEART Campaign
One of the hardest things I have ever experienced was losing my grandfather, J.C. Boyd. I will never forget that day. My grandfather passed away from congestive heart failure after battling with a leaking heart valve and undergoing an open-heart surgery. He was my best friend. The four months before he died, I visited him every day as he had been having trouble stabilizing his blood pressure and was living in a rehab center near my home. We always had a very close relationship, but in the last few months of his life we became so close that losing him was almost unbearable. His legacy will continue to live on, and he will always have a special place in my heart.
J.C. Boyd is Why
Heart disease is the leading cause of death for men and women in America. Approximately 610,000 people die of heart disease in the United States every year. That is one in every four deaths. After losing three family members to this terrible disease, I have become determined to make a difference in others’ lives by raising awareness and focusing on prevention. As a personal trainer, I live by example as I try my best to maintain a healthy lifestyle and encourage others to do the same. Being overweight vastly increases your chances of heart disease and stroke. It is my goal to promote healthy living while working closely with the American Heart Association. Therefore, I started the Train with Heart campaign. This campaign directly benefits the American Heart Association and represents themessage that we are trying to spread. We Train with Heart as we remember friends and family lost to heart disease, strive for our own personal fitness, set a healthy example for others, and spread awareness of heart disease prevention. I hope you will join me in leading this movement.
